Abstract

This study explores the prospects of historical authenticity as a strategic approach to achieving sustainable development in the African Sahel-Saharan region, within the context of liberation from the colonial legacy left by decades of European domination. The study hypothesizes that imported developmental approaches have failed to achieve genuine results in this region, and that returning to the civilizational and historical roots of local communities represents a promising alternative. The research employs a critical analytical methodology and a comparative historical approach to deconstruct the structure of economic and cultural dependency. It proposes a theoretical framework based on the concept of "rooted development" that considers the cultural, environmental, and social specificities of the region. The study concludes that the Sahel-Saharan region possesses a rich civilizational heritage that can be utilized in building authentic developmental models.
