Abstract

The study aimed to clarify the role of good governance in enhancing the efficiency of planning for sustainable development، through analyzing the theoretical concepts of good governance، its principles and dimensions، and reviewing the concept of planning for sustainable development، its importance and foundations، in addition to explaining the nature of the relationship between good governance and the effectiveness of development planning processes،The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach، relying on the analysis of literature and previous studies related to good governance and planning for sustainable development، with the aim of identifying the relationship between the two variables، interpreting its different dimensions، and determining the most significant requirements and obstacles facing the implementation of governance in supporting development planning، The study concluded that good governance constitutes an effective framework for improving the efficiency of planning for sustainable development، through the principles it provides based on transparency، accountability، participation، and the rule of law، The findings also revealed that weak human capacities، administrative corruption، and administrative centralization represent the most prominent obstacles limiting the effective implementation of governance in development institutions، The study further confirmed that planning for sustainable development depends on the integration of economic، social، and environmental dimensions، and that its success is associated with the availability of an institutional environment founded on good governance.
